Hello from Jonathan & Ruth Rexford
Welcome to our little corner of the internet.
Jonathan is a native Floridian, born and raised in Florida and educated right here in Vero Beach. Ruth brought her Michigan roots to Florida in 1985 and has called Vero Beach home ever since.
Married since August 1, 1993, we have spent more than three decades building a life together—raising a family, operating businesses, making lifelong friendships, traveling, trying new things, and creating plenty of memories along the way.
This website brings the different pieces of our lives together in one place.
It is where friends, family, neighbors, customers, and people we meet along the way can learn a little more about us, see what we are working on, and find our businesses, projects, social media, and other places we show up online.
Around the Rexford household, there is usually something going on—business, family, travel, Michigan State football, an interesting find, a new project, or another idea Jonathan has decided might be worth trying.
Meet Jonathan
Jonathan Rexford
Jonathan is a native Floridian with deep roots on Florida’s Treasure Coast. He grew up here, attended school in Vero Beach, and has spent most of his life in the area.
Entrepreneurship started early.
Jonathan began working for himself as a teenager, and that independent streak grew into more than four decades of self-employment, business ownership, and trying new ventures.
Over the years, his work has included landscaping, construction sales, mortgage lending, real estate, property and community association management, investing, transportation, buying and reselling, online commerce, and legal document preparation.
He has always enjoyed finding opportunities where other people might not see them. That might mean discovering an unusual item at a garage sale, fixing something up, testing a new business idea, experimenting with technology, or figuring out whether something interesting can actually make money.
Today, many people around Vero Beach and the Treasure Coast know Jonathan as “The Notary Man.”
Jonathan operates a mobile notary and non-attorney legal document preparation business serving clients throughout the Treasure Coast. His work takes him directly to people’s homes, businesses, hospitals, assisted-living facilities, and other locations where documents need to be handled conveniently and professionally.
Jonathan is also a wedding officiant and is involved in several other projects and ventures, including Rexford Mercantile, the online business he operates with Ruth.
But business is only part of Jonathan’s story.
He enjoys traveling, driving, finding interesting things, building projects, trying new ideas, working with technology, telling stories, and sharing what he learns along the way.
That side of Jonathan also appears on his YouTube channel, where one video might involve a side hustle, another a garage-sale find, a useful tool, something he is building, a road trip, a product he is testing, or simply a story accumulated over more than four decades of working for himself.
Whatever Jonathan is doing, there is a pretty good chance you will recognize him by the hat and sunglasses.

Meet Ruth
Ruth Rexford
Ruth brought her Michigan roots to Florida in 1985 and has called Vero Beach home for more than four decades.
She and Jonathan married in 1993 and have spent more than thirty years building a family, a home, businesses, friendships, and a lifetime of memories together on Florida’s Treasure Coast.
Ruth has been Jonathan’s partner through far more than marriage.
Over the years, she has been beside him through businesses, investments, projects, changing directions, successes, setbacks, travel, and more than a few ideas that probably sounded much easier when Jonathan first explained them.
Today, Ruth continues to be an important part of the businesses and projects carrying the Rexford name, including Rexford Mercantile and the work they do together locally.
The two also bring very different personalities to the partnership.
Jonathan is usually the one asking, “What if we tried this?”
Ruth is often the steady presence beside him helping turn another one of those ideas into real life.
Family, friendships, community, and the life they have built together remain at the center of Ruth’s world.
And although Florida has been home since 1985, her Michigan roots have never disappeared.

There is definitely some Spartan green in the Rexford household.
Ruth is a longtime Michigan State Spartans fan, and more than four decades of Florida sunshine have not changed that.
When football season arrives, the green and white come out, Michigan State goes on the television, and there are usually plenty of opinions about what is happening on the field.
Jonathan learned a long time ago that marrying Ruth also meant Michigan State was becoming part of the household.
So while Vero Beach is home, on game day you may find a little corner of Spartan country right here on Florida’s Treasure Coast.
What we’re up to
There is rarely just one thing happening around here.
We still believe life should involve trying things, learning things, building things, meeting people, traveling, discovering new places, creating memories, and occasionally taking a chance on an idea just to see where it goes.
- Some ideas become businesses.
- Some become products.
- Some become YouTube videos.
- Some become road trips.
- Some involve Jonathan buying something because he is convinced it is worth more than the price tag.
And some simply become another story we will probably tell for years.
